Carpal tunnel syndrome effects millions of people. Through carpal
tunnel syndrome exercises the pain associated with this can be
relieved a little.
Many people who spend a lot of time typing or working at a computer
may develop carpal tunnel syndrome. Even those that don't work at a
computer and instead put stress on the wrist can develop carpet tunnel
syndrome over the years. Many waitresses, factory workers, and other
labor jobs have been known to develop it over the years.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is essential the pinching of the median
nerve in one or both of the wrists. It is caused by repeated use of
the wrist and hand in a specific position. It is not known why some
people develop this syndrome while others might not. Carpal tunnel
syndrome results in extreme pain in the wrist area that might radiate
up the arm, weakness in the wrist and hands, and/or a tingling
sensation and numbness that moves up the arm. Depending on the extent
of the pain and complications from carpal tunnel syndrome it can be
devastating to ones career and be very very painful. There is a simple
exercise that can be performed to relieve a little bit of the pain
associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
The carpet tunnel syndrome exercises can be done multiple times a
day whenever the pain associated with it tends to appear. The exercise
is what is normally given to patients that seek physical therapy for
the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
Hold your arm out in front of you. Flexing the hand at the wrist,
press the hand outwards. This will relieve some of the pressure on the
nerve that the wrist is putting on it. Count to 8 and then drop the
hand downwards. Count to 8 again. Repeat this same movement several
times.
Although this is a simple exercise it can provide a lot of relief
to a condition that can be painful. Other ways that can help relieve
the pain associate with this is by purchasing and wearing a wrist
brace. This will force the wrist to stay in a neutral position and
cause less pain from happening. If the pain were to get to bad, the
best alternative is to seek medical advice from a health
professional.
